Topic: FLX10 Line Inputs
Hey folks,

I recently purchased a Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 to upgrade from the Mixdeck Quad I've been using with VDJ for more than ten years now. I primarily DJ sporting-type events, so I have lots of weird mappings set up and there's some non-standard functionality I look for in my controllers.

When I was using the Mixdeck, I had the outer two channels (labeled CH1 and CH4 on the controller) assigned to control decks A and B in VDJ. I had the center two channels switched to line input, with one routed to my laptop's headphone jack for quick access to playback from other applications, and one routed to an aux cable to connect a phone/iPad/other device. I set this up more than ten years ago, so I'm a little foggy on how exactly I got everything working. Regardless, it's been functioning perfectly all this time.

I never use decks C and D, so it's not necessary for me to ever access those.

I've had the FLX10 for a few weeks now, and I've changed lots of parameters in the mapping - so I'm not exactly sure if the behavior I'm about to describe is how it started working out of the box, or if I fiddled with some settings to get things to where they are now.

As it currently stands, I've remapped all of the buttons/functions I need. The outer two channel faders (labeled 3 and 4 on the FLX10) correctly control decks A and B on VDJ. The problem I'm having, is when I use the switch on the top of the FLX10 on the faders labeled 1 and 2 to switch them to line input, the decks on the controller shut off and display "LINE INPUT" - I lose all jogwheel and transport control on decks A and B when switching faders 1 and 2 to line input, respectively, even though I'm not using those two faders to control decks A and B in VDJ.

This seems like a hardware thing with the FLX10, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I uploaded a quick video to YouTube to show what I'm talking about, in case my rambling wall of text above doesn't do the issue justice:

I appreciate any help anyone can provide!

How exactly did you change the order on the mixer of FLX10 ?

Do you get the same results if you use a 4-Decks skin ?

I believe the order was changed in options > controllers > mixerOrder > 1342

I definitely didn't change this recently, if I'm not mistaken, this is a global setting, and I already had it set that way from the Mixdeck Quad.

If I switch to a four deck skin, I have the same behavior, but I do see on screen that VirtualDJ is detecting the line input on deck C, and it is being muted.

Just checked. It appears that the firmware of the FLX-10 is designed to work on 3-1-2-4 Mixer CH Order.
I tried with 1-3-4-2 and even if i removed all the actions from the top Source buttons, it was kept "muting" the same Decks.
When you move the Source switcher of far left CH, it always displays LINE INPUT on the display of Deck 3.
Similarly, hen you move the Source switcher of the 2nd CH, it always displays LINE INPUT on the display of Deck 1
And this is due to firmware, nothing to do with Mapping in VDJ.

Will try to find a workaround, but I am afraid you will have to change your workflow and use Mixer Order 3-1-2-4 and have the VDJ Decks in the middle Channels.

As for the "Mute" you get on the Decks, you could add Line Inputs in VDJ Audio Setup and route whatever you have in your Inputs through VDJ. This way you will be able to apply effects and most importantly record your mix along with any live inputs. Just click on the LINE INPUT button and VDJ will auto-create the proper Audio setup for you.
